What does my child learn in Noorani Qaida?

Noorani Qaida is the first step before reading the Quran. Your child learns to recognise each Arabic letter, say it from the correct makharij (the places the sounds come from), and join letters into words.

The course then moves through the building blocks of reading:

  • the harakat (fatha, kasra and damma)
  • tanween and sukoon
  • shaddah and the madd letters
  • reading short words and then longer lines with confidence

Each stage is repeated until your child is comfortable before the next one begins.

What does a 30-minute class look like?

Ustadha Ayesha Azmat teaches live and one-to-one on Zoom, using a digital pen and on-screen slides so your child can see every letter being written and pronounced. Classes are 30 minutes, which suits the attention span of young children.

She uses positive reinforcement and reward stickers to keep lessons cheerful. Alongside the lesson, children also pick up daily duas, good manners and stories of the Prophets. She speaks English, Urdu and Arabic, so a child who hears one of these at home is not left confused.

Why a female teacher for young children?

Many parents want their daughters to learn with a woman, and some are happy for a young son to do the same. Classes are private, so there are no other students and no audience. Ustadha Ayesha has experience teaching children outside the Arab world who do not speak Arabic at home, so she knows where these children usually need extra help.

Every child moves at a different speed. It depends on age, on how much they practise at home and on how regularly they attend. Ten minutes of daily revision helps more than a long session once a week. We do not promise a date for finishing the Qaida. After the trial class, the teacher will describe a realistic pace for your child, and you decide whether to continue.

For young children we suggest a parent stays close during class. Parents are welcome to sit nearby.

How do I start, and what does it cost?

Questions about best female quran in United States

What age can my child start Noorani Qaida?

Most children begin once they can sit and follow simple instructions for a short time, usually around four or five years old. We take girls and boys under ten. If you are not sure your child is ready, mention it when you request the trial and the teacher will tell you honestly after meeting them.

Does my child need to know Arabic already?

No. The course starts from the very first letter, and many of our students do not speak Arabic at home. The teacher explains in English, and she also speaks Urdu and Arabic. Nothing is assumed, and the lesson goes at your child's own speed.

Do I need to sit with my child during class?

We suggest a parent stays close for young children, and parents are welcome to sit nearby. It helps your child settle, and it lets you hear what is being taught so you can help with practice afterwards. Older children can usually manage on their own.

What do we need for the Zoom class?

A phone, tablet or computer with a stable internet connection, a quiet spot and your child's Qaida book or the slides the teacher shares. The teacher writes on screen with a digital pen, so a larger screen is helpful but not required.

Is the trial class really free?

Yes, the trial class is free. You request it through the form or on WhatsApp, and a teacher is matched to your child, subject to availability. We ask for your WhatsApp number so we can reply and agree a time. You can choose a plan afterwards or simply stop.
