What do girls learn in Tajweed and tarteel classes?

Tajweed is the set of rules for reciting the Quran correctly, and tarteel means reciting slowly and clearly. Once your daughter can read the letters, we work on:

  • makharij, so each letter comes from the right place
  • the rules of madd, shaddah, tanween and sukoon
  • stopping and starting correctly
  • reading each page with steady, calm rhythm

The teacher listens to your daughter recite and corrects one point at a time, so she is never overwhelmed.

Who is the teacher?

Ustadha Ayesha Azmat holds the Alimah Fazilah qualification, the eight-year Dars-e-Nizami course of Wifaq-ul-Madaris. She also holds an ijazah with a sanad in Tajweed-ul-Quran, Hafs 'an 'Asim. She speaks English, Urdu and Arabic.

Parents may ask for the details of her qualification on WhatsApp at +92 305 9637306. You can read more on the teachers page.

What is a class like for a girl?

Classes are private, live and one-to-one on Zoom, for 30 minutes. The teacher writes with a digital pen on on-screen slides, and she uses positive reinforcement and reward stickers. Daily duas, good manners and stories of the Prophets are woven into the lessons, so your daughter learns how to carry the Quran in her character as well as her voice.

As girls grow older, some parents prefer a female teacher who is easy to talk to and who keeps the class private. We suggest a parent stays close for young children, and parents are welcome to sit nearby.

Progress varies with your daughter's age, her practice at home and how regularly she attends. A little recitation every day matters more than long, rare sessions. We do not promise grades or a finish date. After the trial class the teacher will describe a realistic pace, and you decide how to continue.

Questions about best female quran in United States

Is my daughter ready for Tajweed classes?

If she can recognise the Arabic letters and read short words, she can start. If she cannot yet, begin with Noorani Qaida. The teacher will listen to her reading in the trial class and tell you plainly where she should begin, even if that is the Qaida.

Will she learn Tajweed rules by memory or by listening?

Both. The teacher explains each rule simply, then recites it so your daughter can hear it, and your daughter repeats it aloud. Rules are always practised on real verses from the pages she is reading, so they make sense in context rather than as a list.

Can I stay in the room during class?

Yes. Classes are private and one-to-one, and parents are welcome to sit nearby. For young children we suggest a parent stays close. We also encourage families to ask us how classes are run and who the teacher is before enrolling.

How often should my daughter attend?

That depends on her age and your family's schedule. Plans start at two classes a week and go up to five. Regular attendance and short daily practice help more than any particular number, and the teacher will suggest what suits her age and schedule after the trial class. You can change plans later.

What if we travel?

Classes can be rescheduled when your family travels, with notice. Tell the teacher in advance, and a new time is agreed around your time zone. Weekend slots can also be asked about. If a class has to be missed for another reason, tell the teacher as early as you can, and she will do her best to find another time.
